Sorry I haven't posted in a while. If you could see Jack's social calendar, you would know why. Notice I said "Jack's social calendar" and not "our social calendar". With almost everyday this month spoken for with play dates, playgroup, birthday parties and library activities, I don't have much time to blog. A couple of weeks ago, the Grenada Library had their sign-up day for the summer reading program. Jack was so excited because he loves the library and he loves for us to read to him. He has really gotten into his books. And that makes this momma very happy. For the Infant to Pre-K program, they gave us a chart to keep up with how many minutes we spend reading to Jack. For every 5 minutes we read to him, we initial a block and when we have filled an entire row of blocks, we take it to the library, they sign off on it and Jack wins a prize. So far, he has won a free cookie for McAlister's and a free pizza from Dominos. He gets so excited when they had him his certificate and he carries it around all day. He also gets to put his name in a box, each week, for a drawing at the end of the summer. Yesterday, when he woke up, I told him we had to go to the library to get new books and he told me he wanted a book about polar bears. Why polar bears? I'm not sure, but we found him a few and we been reading them a lot! This morning, the library had a special program that we have been looking forward to, Autumn Morning Star. She is an Indian from Colorado. She is a story teller, singer and magician. And for those of you who know Jack, you know he is so into magicians right now. So nothing doing, but he had to wear his magic hat and carry his magic wand. We got there and were able to find a great seat near the front. Jack turned around and thought all 100 plus children were there to see him. He took off his hat and put on his own magic show. He waved his wand over his hat and said the magic words, "Ab-bo-co-dab-row, hocus-pocus." He did this many, many times. At one point, Autumn Morning Star looked down from the stage and told me Jack could be her opening act. I told her he was an only child and he thought all large gatherings were to watch and celebrate him. She was so nice and very interesting, as well as entertaining. If you ever have a chance to see her, it's well worth your time. Below are a few pictures from the show.

There was even a live dove in her act.

Another part of the summer reading program is Flat Stanley. We have to make a scrapbook of all the places our Flat Stanley goes this summer. His summer got off to a very interesting start, as seen here riding an exotic orange elephant.

Sliding!

Swinging!

Jack got a couple of new chairs for lounging and discovered a love for the snack food, Bugles! Here he is enjoying both.

He's just a cool dude, in a loose mood!

Saturday, we spent a FUN day in Kilmichael at a family birthday party for my cousin's daughter. Lauren turned five. That's her on the left and Grace on the right (my cousin Shelly is Grace's mom.) Jack had the best time. He loves a party and did his best to hang with all of the girls. They would all be playing with girl toys in the other room and Jack would be in there with them. I couldn't help but wonder what they were doing. At one point he came out in a get-up I know they dressed him up in. But he didn't mind, he was having so much fun.

They had a big jumpy thing that Jack loved. A very big thank you to my Uncle Robert who jumped with Jack each time for as long as Jack wanted. I know Uncle Robert was worn out by the end of the day, he's such a good sport. Jack had a blast!!

Jack has several cousins on that side of the family, 5 girls and 4 boys. All but 3 were there. Maybe one day soon we can all get together and I can get a group shot.

This month, we have also been cooking out with friends and watching the kids play in the water. Here is a shot of sweet Elizabeth. Oh, I love her. She is so sweet and beautiful. And she is as light as a feather compared to Jack. I love holding her. And look how cute she is in her swim suit! So good natured and happy.

Trying out Case and Keeton's new pool!

Jack loves to dunk his head under the water.

I've been trying to fix Jack his very own area of our yard. I decided he needed a sign to welcome friends and family. I tried to make it look childlike and rustic. I have a feeling I will always find a place for it in our yard.

We hosted playgroup a couple of weeks ago. Here's Bradley trying out the swing set.

Bathing beauties.

Jack was not feeling playgroup that day. He was not a gracious host. When everyone left, he looked at me and said, "Just you and me momma". I think he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Jack has discovered a love of ice cream cones. John and I love to watch him eat one. He's just so darn cute!!

This picture was taken right before his last haircut. I know he looks like Justin Bieber. I don't like his hair this long. But thankfully we went to see Miss Jennifer last week and he got a great haircut!

Until next time, I hope all of you are having a great summer!!
