To Maggie
Dear Maggie, I got dressed up today in my Tuxedo onesie and was going to come see you. Then I remembered, I can't drive! I will have to ask my mom and Mimi to drive me to your house very soon. My mom showed me the pictures your mom sent us and you are a cutie with a capital C!
P.S. - I got my shots yesterday! It didn't hurt too bad, so don't worry. Just tell your mom to give you lots of Tylenol before and after. And after the shots, you get some cool band-aids! Look at the post below this one and you will see.

Shots Fired!
That's right - Shots Fired! Four shots to be exact, one in the right leg, two in the left and one orally. We took Jack to see our favorite pediatrician, Dr. Ellison, yesterday. It was time for Jack's two month shots and check up. He weighed 12 pounds, 10 ounces and was 22 3/4" long! (50th percentile for height and 75th for weight.) I told you we had a chunky monkey. Dr. Ellison was very impressed with how alert and strong Jack seems to be. He said we have a healthy, strong, robust little boy.
Then came Nurse Allison with the shots. We love Allison as much as we love Dr. Ellison. She has a little girl who just turned 1 year old, so she is great with babies. Jack took his shots well. Allison was so quick, John didn't even see her give him the last one. Jack cried for about 4 or 5 minutes, then settled down. I started giving him Tylenol, every 4 hours, about 3:30 Friday morning and so far no fever or complications.
Below are a few "after" pictures. Now, let me explain some things. We are in the car, but the car is not moving. That's why he is not in his car seat. We are still in the doctor's parking lot. His appointment hit at meal time, so when it was over, we sat in the car and gave him a bottle. And no, he did not go to his appointment naked. He actually wore an adorable little blue and white outfit. He looked so cute! He wanted to look good for any little girls he might see in the waiting room and for Nurse Allison. However, Dr. Ellison's office was like an oven. We all felt like we were wearing a fur coat on the beach in July. It was awful! And he cried when he got his shots and that made him even hotter. Plus, I have to admit, Jack likes being naked! All naked, all the time! So when we got him in the car, we took everything off, but his diaper and that is how he rode home. I am convinced it made for a better trip home. Plus my mom went with us! Thanks mom.

Jack's First Valentine's "Week"
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. We did! We spent the day in Winona, visiting with my parents and my sister, Nicole, and brother-in-law, Sam. We had a really nice day. Jack loved all of the attention, especially from his Aunt Nicole. We know for a fact that he has a thing for pretty girls because he could not take his eyes off of her.
Jack had a great Valentine's "WEEK". Yes, I said week! Everyday this week, he has received presents and cards from friends and family. It's almost been like Christmas. John and I want to thank everyone for making his first Valentine's so special.

How Cute is This?
These are pictures of Jack taking his afternoon nap. I just thought he looked so cute in his red and white, I had to snap a couple of pictures. And yes, I do take pictures of him EVERYDAY! Awake or asleep, I don't care. He's just too cute!

The good, the bad and the ugly
My goal with this blog is to report the good, the bad and the ugly, and not try to keep up appearances. Yesterday I reported the bad, today I am here to report the good! Last night at 8:00pm (a.k.a. - the witching hour) we were putting Jack down in his baby bed, fast asleep. Yes, I said baby bed. He moved from the crib beside our bed to his big boy baby bed! And as great as that is, we are just as proud that he did not have his usual crying spell at 8:00!!
The night was long and I didn't get much sleep, but I knew I wouldn't his first night in his bed. There are several stories to tell from the night, but that's for another post - I'm too tired. He did really well and I pray we can keep it up! Now if we can just work on taking naps.

8:00pm - The Witching Hour
Yes, that is John standing in our laundry room at 10:30 last night, feeding Jack - who is in his car seat, on the dryer, and the dryer is running full blast. One week ago tonight, and EVERY night since, at exactly 8:00, Jack has thrown an uncontrollable fit. He holds his breath, he stiffens his little body, he shakes his fist and he will not take a bottle. These fits last for two or more hours and he never lets up. They scare us more than they frustrate. Three times we have had to put him in the car and ride him around. The car ride doesn't put him to sleep, but it calms him enough that I can put him in his crib (beside our bed) and hold the pacifier in his mouth to keep him quite. Even then it is after midnight before he falls asleep. I have heard of other babies doing this. How long should we expect this to last? What have other people done? What can we do? I would love to hear from you. A bath does not work - by the way.
Oh, and if you see us out riding around late at night, please do not try to stop us to talk. Because yes, John and I both are in our pj's and house shoes. There is no time to get dressed!

Who wears the pants in this family?
No doubt it's Jack! For the second day in a row I dressed him in pants. For the past 7 weeks I have been dressing him in gowns and footed pj's. We needed to mix it up a little. I think he looks so cute in his pants. I also added a few pictures of Jack watching his mobile. This is something he has just started and will watch it for about 10 minutes at a time. Heaven help us though if we let it stop! We have to be sitting on ready at all times.
