A Week of First

This was an exciting week at the Branscome household - as you can tell. Jack has had a much better week. He has been a sweet, happy baby. Every once in a while you can tell his teeth are bothering him, but I give him his medicine and in a little while he's back to playing.

A couple of weeks ago, Jack started making a new sound. DAAAAAH. It sounded like the beginnings of Da-Da. Well, Monday night, after his bath, we were playing with him on our bed and he let out his first word -
Da-Da!! He said it just as clear as a bell. And he has been saying it a lot, especially when he is going to sleep and when I am changing his diaper. We were sitting outside this afternoon, and he was so excited to be swinging, and he was yelling Da-Da-Da-Da. We are so excited and proud of him.

The other day, we were checking out our sweet friend John Alden Russell's blog (http://www.jenniferandjohnrussell.blogspot.com/) and John Alden was enjoying a nice cold Popsicle. I told John a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to get a Popsicle for Jack, but couldn't decide if i wanted the kind with the stick, or the ones you push up through the plastic tube. But after seeing how well John Alden handled the stick, I decided that was the way to go. So today, I stripped Jack down to his diaper and we went outside to sit under a tree and enjoy a cold treat. He made a huge mess, but loved it! I imagine it made his little gums feel better too. This may become an everyday treat. I told him when I put him down for an afternoon nap that if he would take a good nap, he could have a prize. He slept a little over an hour and a half and for Jack , that's a good nap.
We go to Madison tomorrow for Jack's six month check-up and shots. Please pray for Jack and for us. Jack HATES riding in the car and screams bloody murder. We may leave early and stop by John's office on the way to say hello. That will help break the trip up for him. We will just have to see how well we do getting out the door in the morning.

Happy Anniversary!

Tomorrow we are taking Jack to Madison for his 6 month check-up and shots. You never know what the day might bring, so we wanted to go ahead and wish BeBe and Granddaddy a very happy anniversary (a day early)!

Happy Anniversary

Just Teething

As I posted in the wee hours of the morning, Jack was not himself last week. And he ended up screaming until 4:13 this morning (he stopped just in time for John's alarm clock to go off at 4:30! Needless to say, I imagine John has been like the walking dead today.) I really figured it was his teeth. But since we are not going for his 6 month check-up until Friday, I thought I better run him by Richard Reid's office and just make sure it wasn't an ear infection. I would hate to wait until Friday and Dr. Ellison say it was an ear infection and Jack had suffered all week and the infection gotten worse. I would rather be safe than sorry. It's not his ears! Thank you Lord!!! Richard said his ears look "dull", which means they look perfect. He thinks it's just the teeth. Please pray that we see teeth soon and Jack gets some relief.

He had the best time at the doctor's office. He loves people and being out and about. He talked up a storm to everyone in the waiting room, flirted with the nurses and laughed at Richard the entire time. He has done okay today. He hasn't slept much, just a thirty minute cat nap here and there. I hope he has a good night and gets some much needed rest (us too).

When All Else Fails...

BLOG! It is 3:33am and Jack has been SCREAMING since 1:00am! I have fed him, changed him, rocked him, given him his teething meds, tried getting him to sleep with me - NOTHING! He's not crying, he is SCREAMING!!! Now I'm sitting across the hall just letting him tire himself out.

We had a really bad week last week. I don't know if it's the teeth or what, but I was really hoping we would have a good week this week. No such luck.

Happy Father's Day!

Today was John's First "official" Father's Day. In the past, we have always celebrated Mother's Day and Father's Day with our little dog, Avery. He was very missed today. Such a special occasion can't be celebrated in just one day, we needed two!!!

Saturday, we went to Winona to celebrate with my family. Then we celebrated this morning and tonight at our house and this afternoon with John's parents. We had a fun weekend and enjoyed spending time with everyone.

Saturday, Jack got to spend time
with two of his most favorite
people - Uncle Sam and Cookie.

A very blurry picture of Poppa
opening gifts.

Play time in Winona is the best.
All eyes are on Jack!

Bless his heart, he doesn't
have any toys. (HA!)

As you can tell, I started snapping pictures
as soon as these two woke up this morning.

Mom, can't you wait until I
finish my breakfast?

Jack's card to John.

Jack gave John a cute book about
baby animals and their daddies.
I think they will enjoy
reading it together.
John tried to read it to Jack
after breakfast, but Jack
was much more interested
in how the book taste.
This afternoon, we went to visit
with BeBe and Granddaddy.
BeBe has a lot of great toys that
belonged to John when he was
a baby and she has a great floor
to roll around on. Jack always has
a good time at their house.

Back at home! The King on his
throne after his dinner.

At this point, I was worried he might not
get to bed on time. He looks like he's
having too much fun. But once we got
in the rocker, he was out in 2 minutes.
"I declare this the best Father's Day ever!"

Half Way There!

Half way to Jack's FIRST BIRTHDAY that is. Today our monkey is six months old!! We can't believe how fast the last six months have flown by. It all seems like a blur. Today turned into one long Kodak moment. I literally took pictures from the moment he woke up until right before bedtime.

Jack goes to bed every night between 6:30 and 7:00.
And I wake him up every morning at 7:00,
but since today was his birthday, I let him sleep
until 7:30. He woke up to my singing Happy
Birthday. Doesn't he look thrilled?

Seriously mom?

Five more minutes, please!!

Hanging our in his diaper and
camo slippers after breakfast.
He still doesn't look very happy.

He got a high chair for his birthday!
The play tray pops off when it's
time to use the food tray.

He likes it!!

I may never eat again!!!
(I doubt that.)

We debated about the type of high chair
we wanted. Jack has so many BIG toys.
And they have taken over our house.
I just didn't know how we would fit a
big high chair in with everything else.
So, we are going to try the type you
strap on to a kitchen chair or
bar stool. It also folds up for travel.

I really think he will enjoy sitting
and playing in his new chair
while I'm cooking.

This afternoon, Jack was just
monkeying around.

Such a sweet, big boy.

Happy Jack!!

What a face!!! He looks like
John in this picture.

He enjoyed eating supper in his new
chair and played in it while
we ate our dinner.
Lots to do.
EVERYTHING's a chew toy these days.

No teeth yet, but hopefully soon.
Birthdays are FUN!!!
(He's only slightly spoiled.)

Happy Anniversary!

Jack has not been himself for the past few days. This teething business is really hard! No new teeth to report yet. The way he's been feeling, I hope for his sake we see a little tooth SOON! With that said, it has been a long day! So long, in fact, that Jack fell asleep before he got a chance to wish Mimi and Poppa a...

Happy Anniversary!!

During a visit with his BeBe and Granddaddy the other day, I had to get a picture of these two cool dudes in their shades. Don't they look like trouble?
