Family Tradition

These sweet overalls have become a family tradition. They have been in my mother's family since 1935! They were an advertisement sample for Fair's Department Store in French Camp, MS. Mr. Fair gave them to my mom's Aunt Lola for one of her little boys. (That little boy is now in his 70's.) Once he outgrew them, Aunt Lola put them up for save keeping. Many, MANY years later, when my mom was 5 years old, she received a boy doll called Baby Brother. Baby Brother is about the size of a six month old baby. Aunt Lola gave my mom these overalls for her doll and my mom has kept them all of these years. And she has kept them on Baby Brother - yes, she still has her Baby Brother doll and I loved playing with him when I was growing up. He is missing a foot and three fingers, but we love him. He is a priceless antique!

When I was about six months old, my mom dressed me up in Baby Brother's 1935 overalls for a picture. She did the same to Nicole. So of course it was only fitting that we get Jack's picture in them before he gets too big. Of all the pictures I will ever have of Jack, these will probably be my favorite!

Jack's Uncle John & Aunt Patricia who live in Texas.

Patricia and Mrs. Branscome are first cousins.

We call Patricia our Texas cousin, Jack calls her Aunt Patricia.

She has a great nack for finding great gifts!

Nicole's future children will probably be the last ones to have a picture made in the overalls. They are getting fragile and will one day be mounted in a shadow box for save keeping!
