A Swingin' Anniversary

John and I celebrated our anniversary last Saturday - 11 years!! My parents offered us a gift going out to eat and child care. Believe it or not, we turned them down. We were worn out. After living with colic for 8 weeks, it really starts to wear you down. He is getting a little better, but bedtime tends to be wild. I didn't want to leave my parents to have to deal with it by themselves. I mean, they have already raced up here at 10:00 on a Friday night, in a flash flood, to spend the night and help calm Jack after I called them crying. (And that was just two weeks ago.) Did I mention they live 30 miles away? So, I feel we have asked enough of them already. We decided that they would come up here and eat dinner with us. My mom cooked everything - roast, peas, potatoes, corn bread - it was delicious. But the best part was the anniversary gift my dad and I went to pick up at Wal-Mart. Now, Jack has a bouncy seat but doesn't like it and he isn't quite big enough for his Bounce, Bounce Baby just yet. He needed something to help soothe him and everyone told us the swing would be perfect and help with his colic. So, my dad took me to Wal-Mart and he & my mom bought Jack a swing!! He loves it!! And if Jack's happy, every one's happy! It has a mobile, plays 16 different songs, several different speeds etc... It is, by far, the best anniversary present John and I have ever received.

I know he doesn't look very happy in these pictures, but I was bothering him while he was watching Sesame Street and they were singing the bubble song - B is for Bubble, Bubble, Bubble, Bubble. I taped this episode on our DVR and had to keep rewinding it back to this song for him. Once I stopped taking pictures, he started smiling and kicking his feet. He really enjoys his swing!
