Another First

Jack's first trip to McDonald's!! And who better to share the experience with - McKenzie, Matt and Aunt Betty. We all met at our local Mickey D's yesterday around 11:00. We figured that would be a good time, before the noon rush. And we were right. We were quickly served and almost finished eating before they got busy. We stayed almost an hour and a half. Matt and McKenzie were having a good time on the indoor playground and Betty and I were having fun talking. But for Jack, the experience was anything but fun. I mean what kid does not like McDonalds? MINE!!! He screamed for the first 30 minutes. But I was determined to stay, eat and visit. So, I got him out of his highchair, let him sit on my lap and CRY!! I have found that if he is not sick or hurting, letting him cry and not making a big deal about it is the best thing to do. Luckily more kids started coming in and playing, making it harder to hear Jack's cry. Sure enough, he looked around and saw he wasn't getting a reaction and stopped. I wouldn't say he had a great time, but he spent the rest of the time watching the kids play. I also let him chew on a french fry. I think he enjoyed the tasty salt. By the time we left Aunt Betty had gotten a smile or two out of him. I had a great time and we WILL be doing this again very soon.

He was so tried when we got home and I just knew he would take a good afternoon nap. He fell asleep taking his bottle and I put him to bed. Thirty minutes later, he's up and for the rest of the afternoon. Needless to say, I put him to bed last night at 6:00 and had to wake him up at 6:45 this morning. After his nap, he settled in on his quilt for a little playtime and Dora the Explorer.

Hi,Amanda,
I am just now seeing this~I can promise you that one day you will look back and laugh at how Jack cried at McD's!! You were so right to stay and let him just "do his thing" because maybe next time he will cry alot less and enjoy it alot more.I'll bet McKenzie and Matt would love to go back again!!
Jack is a doll, and one of these days I will meet him in person; hey, maybe I will join y'all at McD.'s!!!
Thanks for sharing.
love,
Betty aka Betty Ward
